THE BEST MEDICINE

THE BEST MEDICINE

With all its dysfunction, imagined or true, Americans have the potential to have access to the best medicines and medical treatment in the world. This is my opinion and I respect your opinion if you disagree. Please note the word “potential” to access. Access to medical treatment and medicines is not accessible to all Americans equally. This is my opinion and I pray that you or I never have the need for a treatment that is denied by an insurance provider and or have limited financial resources to do so.

Having laid these thoughts on the table for consideration, all of us have equal access to a medicine that is better than any drug or treatment plan provided by the medical community. LOVE.

Love is equally accessible to all. Love is a choice. I am putting this choice out there as we go into the holiday season. Love is the ultimate healing medicine for self and for others. But here is one truth, you or I can’t give what we don’t possess. And what I have is worthless if I don’t share it. Said another way if one doesn’t first love self what does one have to give? If one professes love of self but refuses to love others, what have they given? Love-true love- is never hypothetical. Love-true love-is a practice. When we engage in the PRACTICE of first loving self, we discover the practice of loving others follows. Please note that I didn’t say loving others is easy.

Self-love is accessible but for some, it is a battle that is fought repeatedly. Love is good medicine and worth the struggle.

Self-love will not allow me to ignore or deny signs and symptoms of disease - spiritual, physical, or emotional. This love causes me to be vigilant about my overall well-being and naturally overflows to those around me. Self- love is good preventative medicine, and I am always accessible to myself…maybe.

Many of us are so busy with the other stuff, that we should schedule an appointment for a routine check in/up with self. Your access to yourself when exercised, expands its boundaries, and creates space for others to experience your love (the greatest medicine) and are often healed of a malady.

You and I have the grand opportunity in the next few weeks to practice love. Love yourself. Take care of yourself. And then love your neighbor and your family like you love yourself.

PONDER THIS THOUGHT---Self-love is both preservation and provision for me and others.
