THE BRIDGE

I spend a good amount of time each day intentionally thinking of you! “Who? Me?” you might be asking. “Yes, YOU.” Even when I am not thinking of you intentionally, something will trigger a thought of you, and I will make a mental note (dangerous because it is subject to be forgotten) or write a few words to remind myself to share the thought with you. I can’t help myself; you are never far from my thoughts. This may make you feel a bit warm and fuzzy and me seem a bit crazy.
Your health and wellbeing – physical, spiritual, and emotional are important to me. When you are healthy and living the best life you can, I am more able to live my best self. When you are not at your best, a little something is missing from my life. The same is true for me. Recall a time when a friend or family member was ill or experiencing a difficulty. How did that affect you?
There are many things we share. I participate in one of those things intentionally 6 to 7 times per week. I am encouraging you to join me. Don’t be afraid, it is something you do already but maybe with less intentionality.
If depression, anxiety, and stress stick to you like glue, you might find an increase in this activity, a good supplement to some of your other treatment choices. Most of us, regardless of age, want to live a long disability free life. I am not promising but suggesting that this activity might be a path to the fountain of longevity. You that are older, know that the risk for a few maladies increase with each passing year lived. You that are younger, hope that you will get older. Increasing the level and intensity of this activity right now diminishes the potential for those maladies. When angry or tired or sleep deprived, add this activity to your daily routine.
WALK!!! Joints hurt, walk anyway. Walk to improve your mood, burn calories, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, to live longer, to boost brain power and improve sleep. Walking for most of us is a “no excuse allowed” activity. One doesn’t need any special equipment…shoes and desire are all that is needed.
My morning walk often takes me across a short wooden bridge with metal guard rails on either side. The bridge hovers over a small creek. When I think of you, the creek, and the bridge, I see you standing on the bank of the creek on one side and me on the other. The bridge is constructed of my desire for a healthier existence for us both. The metal rails remind me that we are guarded and protected. Others have traveled the path of change and survived. Start walking. I am walking with you and for you in my thoughts.
Philippians 1:6
PONDER THIS THOUGHT --- Being well begins with the desire to be well.
